These little paintings on paper are the underdog heavy hitters in my art process. They allow me to work out colors, patterns, and compositions before I dive into the final paintings.

This particular study was in preparation for a public art commission for Des Moines Area Community College - Boone Campus. The final project, which is featured below, captured an ancient cottonwood tree on campus.

Please note these are unframed and have deckled ( i.e. hand torn and often uneven) edges.
