Deep Roots: Evolution of a Painting
Deep Roots, acrylic on wood panel, 36” x 48”, 2022.
My awesome former intern Paige created this short video about the evolution of Deep Roots, the final painting inspired a conversation I had in 2019 with Drick Rodgers and Julia Rodgers in Rolling Fork, Mississippi.
This video gives light to the fits and starts of my painting process. Can’t speak for other painters, but sometimes you really have to wrestle new pieces the ground. This one was a beast, but it ended up being one of my all time faves. Glad I didn’t settle. Artists: never settle.
Thanks for watching.
